Mälarö Church

Beautiful music is playing
From a Mälarö church
A boy plays Bach in the evening when no one is listening
And the organ is his life
And music, his strength
He wishes to be a cantor, wants to follow his father's footsteps

When all the people sleep
In farms and in cottages
Then he dresses up in his summer best like many times before
In the summer night's stillness
He plays a fugue
Finally, the best he knows, a Beatles song fades out

If the church once becomes his, how lovely that would be
When pop songs sound, a congregation listens
His clean tones clear
His faithful audience
That hear the brilliance, can understand the music

The few cords he can play
Become music in his church
When Father played for weddings, Easter and for Advent
He dreams of a choir
of one who's own strength
Will take his notes up so high like they've never been before

Then he wants them to come
From the farms and cottages
Then he will play for them anew his evening's concert
Then he will start with the Beatles
And end with a fugue
And then everyone will think both are equally beautiful

If the church once becomes his, how lovely that would be
When pop songs sound, a congregation listens
His clean tones clear
His faithful audience
That hear the brilliance, can understand the music

Then he wants them to come
From the farms and cottages
Then he will play for them anew his evening's concert
Then he will start with the Beatles
And end with a fugue
And then everyone will think both are equally beautiful
